Living organisms are like factories in the sense that they gain energy, raw material, and information from their environment. Components are manufactured, whilewaste material and heat are givenback to the environment. The living organisms are an autonomous, self-maintaining, and self-organizing entity. This kind of system is called anautopoietic system.
