Introduction: The ecosystem present in a water body is known as aquatic ecosystem. It is of two types, namely marine ecosystem and fresh water ecosystems. There are three main ecological categories of organisms present in both fresh water and marine ecosystems. These are plankton (free-floating), nekton (strongly swimming), and benthos (bottom-dwelling).
