Summary Introduction

To review:

The given blank space in the statement, “After each description, fill in the appropriate term: “workbenches” of the cell: ______; comes in rough and smooth forms: ______; site of ribosomes production: _______; a stack of flattened membranous sacs: _______; outermost layer of plant cells: ______; ferries blueprints for protein production from the nucleus to the cytoplasm: ________.”

Introduction:

A cell is composed of various organelles that play a variety of roles in order to maintain the overall functions of the cell. These organelles not only play their role but also regulate the functions of other organelles, that is, they are constantly interacting with each other in order to function.

For example, protein synthesis is initiated by transcription of deoxy ribonucleic acid (DNA) into messenger-ribonucleic acid (mRNA) inside the cell that is exported to the cytoplasm; ribosome gets attached to mRNA and starts the process of translation. This peptide reaches endoplasmic reticulum for folding and modification and then transported to Golgi apparatus where it is sorted, packaged, and transported further.

This way organelles interact and function among themselves.

Label and show the loeatons of the following organelles on the dagram of a plant cell below: Cell wall, Plasma (cell) membrane, cytoplasm, mitochondria, chloroplast, nucleus, vacuole, endoplasmic reticulum, ribosomes, nuclear membrane, nucleolus, golgi apparatus 0 0 0 0
Which statement about the cytoskeleton is incorrect? Microtubules are hollow tubes of protein that provide structural support. Plant cells lack a cytoskeleton because they have a rigid cell wall. Intermediate filaments are more permanent structures in cells compared to microfilaments and microtubules. Microfilaments are chains of proteins that resist stretching. Components of the cytoskeleton are often involved with movement of organelles within the cytoplasm.
After each description, fill in the appropriate structure: “powerhouses” of the cell:_______ ; capture solar energy: _______; structure outside of animal cells:_________; region of prokaryotic cell containing DNA:________; propel fluid past cells:_________ ;consists of the cytosol and the organelles within it:
