Chapter 4, Problem 1AC
Summary Introduction
To review:
The density of mitochondria in the leg muscles of a sedentary individual and a marathon runner.
Introduction:
Mitochondria are present in all eukaryotic cells and are known as the ‘powerhouse of the cell’ because they derive energy from the food consumed and store them in the form of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) molecules. The mitochondria in muscles are capable of both aerobic and anaerobic respiration.
