Introduction:

Ocotillo is a hardy shrub which can tolerate high heat of up to 50 degree Centigrade and low temperature as well of up to 20 degree Centigrade. It has the capacity to withstand drought and rainless weather. It is predominantly found in desert climate and in high mountain region of 6500 ft. where there is snowfall. It is said to be dormant for years if no rain and comes back once it rains. Even a cut-down branch will grow roots if planted in a wet soil.
