Question
Chapter 23.3, Problem 23.47QAP
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
How would low oxygen levels affect the production of ATP?
Concept introduction:
ATP is produced in the cells in two ways, namely oxidative phosphorylation and glycolytic pathway. In the first method, there is oxidative phosphorylation of ADP wherein oxygen gets reduced by the electron transport chain process. In the glycolytic pathway, ATP is generated in the absence of oxygen from glucose which is found in body fluids and hydrolysis of glycogen.
