To determine: How does allostatic overload contributes to the development of disease.
Introduction: The long-term effects of continued exposure to chronic stress on the body is referred to as allostatic load. The bodily responses are designed in such a way that they have to be invoked under acute situation and should be turned off. The bodily responses that are invoked too frequently create allostatic load. This could increase due to dysfunctional coping mechanism of the body and is termed as allostatic overload.
