Purple sulfur bacteria are frequently observed throughout the meromictic lakes. These lakes contain saline water on the bottom surface and fresh water near the soil surface. The green sulfur bacteria are present in marine habitats. These bacteria contain unique structure photosynthetic apparatus called as chlorosomes.
