Introduction:
Taste buds are the special receptor cells present on the tongue for the sensation of taste. They are located on the lateral surface of the papillae. There are four types of the papillae, namely, vallate, fungiform, foliate, and the filiform papillae. There are different numbers of taste buds on each papilla.
