Roulette Exercises 86(091 use the casino game roulette. Roulette is played by spinning a wheel with 38 numbered slots. The numbers 1 through 36 appear on the wheel, half of them colored black and half colored red. Two slots, numbered 0 and 00, are colored green. A ball is placed on the spinning wheel and allowed to come to rest in one of the slots. Bets are placed on where the ball will land.
You can bet that the ball will land on any particular number. If you win, the casino will pay you $35 for each dollar you bet. What is the probability of winning this bet?

Casino Games Many casinos have a game called the Big Six Money Wheel. which has 54 slots in which are displayed a Joker, the casino logo, and various dollar amounts. as shown in the table at the top of the next column. Players may bet on the Joker, the casino logo, or one or more dollar denominations. The wheel is spun and if the wheel stops on the same place as the player’s bet, the player wins that amount for each dollar bet.
If a player bets $1 on the $20 denomination, find the player’s expectation. If a player bets $1 on the $5 denomination, find the player’s expectation.

- APPLICATIONS Roulette An American roulette wheel has 38 slots. Two of the slots are numbered 0 and 00, and the rest are numbered from 1 to 36.A player places a bet on a number between 1 and 36 and wins if a ball thrown into the spinning roulette wheel lands in the slot with the same number. Find the probability of winning on two consecutive spins of the roulette wheel.arrow_forwardRoulette American roulette is a game in which a wheel turns on a spindle and is divided into 38 pockets. Thirty-six of the pockets are numbered 1-36, of which half are red and half are black. Two of the pockets are green and are numbered 0 and 00 (see figure). The dealer spins the wheel and a small ball in opposite directions. As the ball slows to a stop, it has an equal probability of landing in any of the numbered pockets. (a) Find the probability of landing in the number 00 pocket. (b) Find the probability of landing in a red pocket. (c) Find the probability of landing in a green pocket or a black pocket. (d) Find the probability of landing in the number 14 pocket on two consecutive spins. (e) Find the probability of landing in a red pocket on three consecutive spins.arrow_forwardYou play a game where you roll two dice. It was decided that you lose ₱500 if you get a sum of 3, 6, or 9, and you lose ₱400 if you get a sum of 10. However, you win ₱300 for anything else.
