Interpretation:
The kinds of intermolecular forces present in the given compounds are to be determined.
Concept introduction:
The various kinds of interactions that bind a molecule or the attractive forces that hold particle together in the condensed phases are known as intermolecular forces. They can be dispersion, dipole–dipole, ion–dipole, and hydrogen bonding.
Dispersion forces are weak attractive forces that are generated by the positions of electrons in two adjacent atoms (or by movement of electrons in non-polar molecules) by which temporary dipoles are created.
Dipole-dipole interactions are attractive forces that act between polar molecules.
Hydrogen bonding is a type of dipole–dipole interaction. It occurs only in molecules that contain hydrogen atom which is attached to highly electronegative atom such as N, O, and F.

[Select all that apply.] Hydrogen bonds occur when H is bonded to C atoms. The ideal bond angle for a hydrogen bond is 180 degrees. Hydrogen bonds are generally stronger than covalent bonds. Hydrogen bonds are generally stronger than other dipole-dipole interactions. The ideal bond angle for a hydrogen bond is 109.5 degrees. - Chemistry ▾ Part A Which of the following statements are true? Select all that apply. For molecules with similar molecular weights, the dispersion forces become stronger as the molecules become more polarizable. All other factors being the same, dispersion forces between linear molecules are greater than dispersion forces between molecules whose shapes are nearly spherical The smaller the atom, the less polarizable it is. When comparing Ne and Xe, the boiling point of Ne is expected to be higher because dispersion forces decrease going down a column in the periodic table. In terms of the total attractive forces for a given substance, dipole-dipole interactions, when present, are always larger than dispersion forces.
