Henry Ford was one of the most brilliant entrepreneurs in creating the automobile assembly line, it was his controversial characteristics and unorthodox approach towards administrating the Ford Motor Company which resulted in the conglomeration of one of the most successful corporations in the world. Henry Ford’s controversial behavior reflected badly on himself and on the Ford Motor Company. The Anti-Semitic views expressed by Henry Ford could never be denied. It was common knowledge in fact that Henry Ford was prejudice. He wrote an article in the Dearborn Independent expressing his ideas that Jews were the cause of many peoples problems. Henry Ford was sued by a man by the name Aaron Sapiro in the early 1930’s.
Sapiro had evidence that Ford threatened himself with Anti-Semitic sentiments. Ford was recorded as saying, “Sapiro is a shrewd little Jew. The bible says Jews will return to Palestine, but they want to get all the money out of America first. Sapiro should be kicked out because he is trash..” The result of the trial was humiliation for the Ford company and Henry Ford himself. After a hung jury in the first trial, the case was dropped when Ford wrote a lengthy retraction and apologized for his statements. Ford’s was declining in profits and production! among the worlds best. All as a result of Henry Ford’s ego. Thus, by 1931 Ford lowered in the ranks, controlling only 28% of the market 2nd to GM with 31%.

Ford developed a design and a method of making the cars that steadily and continuously reduced the cost of the car, the car being the Model T. Instead of pocketing the money from the cars Ford used it to make better and more efficient ways to build a car. As a result, Ford Motor Company sold more cars and steadily increased its earnings. The automobile industry put American citizens into action. Mass production was a big component in the success of automobiles. Although successful, it became very repetitive. Skilled workers who were once worshipped, were no longer needed. Henry Ford was described as racist, bitter, but he brought success to citizens in the 1920s. Ford started the Ford Motor Company in 1903 with the help of a limited amount of workers in a shed. It was not until 1914 where custom-made cars turned into many cars, such as the Model T, moving down an assembly line. Yet, when he died in 1947, Ford, and the company he founded had a profound effect on the world he taught to drive. The next eight years consisted of the newspapers being filled with his biased views. His newspapers mixed racism with anti semitism, getting attention from the world and even Adolf Hitler. In 1925, when Hitler’s Mein Kampf was published, Ford, the first and only American’s name, is mentioned in it. His anti semitic articles were translated and used by the Nazis to show that they weren’t alone with their views of Jewish people. Hitler stated, “You can tell Herr Ford that I am a great admirer of his, I shall do my best to put his theories into practice in Germany. ... I regard Henry Ford as my inspiration.” Henry Ford was so anti semitic that he was mentioned by Adolf Hitler and said to be his inspiration. Two years after all of this, Ford and his newspaper had a libel suit against them but he didn’t testify because of a car accident. The trial was said to be a mistrial when one of the judges were interviewed, but Ford gave a public apology and stopped publishing his newspapers. He placed blame on the writers for the anti semitic views instead of taking responsibility for himself. Henry Ford was the world’s most influential leader. From founding one of the worlds most successful car companies, to having a major influence on WWI, he has profoundly shaped the 20th century and left an impact on every single one of our lives. Although Mr. Ford is considered one of the wealthiest and most commonly known people in the world, Ford was founded by his hard work and dedication to supply a perfect product. At one point half the cars on the road worldwide were his famous model-t. As the company expanded he slowly began to make Ford more independent, such as purchasing acres of land for wood, purchasing land for rubber trees, and even having his own line of specialty glass blowers. Ford’s famous Model-T was developed as an innovative automobile that could be produced quickly, while keeping the cost to a minimum. This allowed people with a lower income the opportunity to afford an automobile. One of the biggest changes in the automobile industry occurred in 1913 with the introduction of a perfected assembly line method. This assembly line method was the one of the main reasons Ford Motor Company was able to keep the cost of vehicles and the production time to a minimum. Ford also took the first step to increase wages of their employees above the industry standard. Although it was still a very low value, Ford offered $5 per day which was a huge improvement from the $2.34 per day that most companies offered.
