Becoming a Nurse’s Assistant doesn’t require a whole lot of extensive education but a lot of hard work is needed to be put into this career. Being a Nurse’s Assistant requires you to have a high school diploma and specific training in certain fields (BLS.gov). So you will have to have graduated from high school obviously, but you will also need to have training in the nursing fields. You can start training while you’re still in school. Which would mean you could have a job as soon as you graduate or even before. You can take basic classes in high school and taking health occupation classes, and taking health and nurse’s aide training (MSHealth.org). In some states these opportunities vary. They would work in Hospitals, physician offices, health agencies, nursing homes, and even in private homes (MSHealthCareer.org). Private homes are working in former patients houses and working for them. Physician offices are like doctors’ offices and you would have to call patients back, and do basic checks on them before the doctor comes in to see them. CNA’s also work with a lot of sick people and elderly patients which can increase the chances of getting sick lot and higher risks of getting bacterial diseases (BLS.gov). Working with a lot of sickly people the way CNA’s do gives you high risks or getting infections and sicknesses and diseases. This is why you are required to wear gloves and face masks to reduce your chances of getting certain infections. There are a lot of people in hospitals and a lot of doctors and nurses so you have to be able to handle working with a large number of people (CNACertificationSchools.com). CNA’s are constantly around people with the patients in and out of hospitals and doctors’ offices and all the nurses and doctors that are work associates. You need to be able to work with people and be compassionate towards all people. You would also need to learn how to handle certain situations that would happen in the workplace. OF course these would depend on where and you live and work. Some hospitals offer free on the job training (CNACertificationschools.Com). This would enable you to work your way up the line by working and taking classes for more certifications. The pay ranged from how long you have been working but you would be paid $9-15 and hour, which is $25-30,000 a year (Careeronestop.org). It may not seem like a lot but where you would be pulling a lot of hours daily you could be making even more than that. CNA’s may also receive paid holidays and 1-2 weeks paid vacations (CNACertificationschools.com). This means if you have to take off because something pops up you would be paid for those days.
