Chapter 1, Problem 1EGDQ
Explanation of Solution
Categorical Imperative:
Categorical imperative is that in all situations the complete requirements must be followed and it should be acceptable as an end in it.
Cheating in an exam:
- Cheating in an exam is not consistent in categorical imperative, because cheating is not a universal law and if everyone cheats, then learning could not be measured and the value of school would approach zero.
- In order to get good marks one should study well rather than cheating.
Therefore, cheating is not a universal law, so it is not consistent in categorical imperative.

Which of these three views do you find the most compelling?
When we talk about ethics, what precisely do we understand by that term? Is it possible that claim rights, which are examples of positive rights, and freedoms, which are examples of negative rights, may ever find themselves in a situation in which they directly contradict one another?
What implications does extensive usage of artificial intelligence and robots have for society and morality? Do you think it would be better for robots to replace all human employees in the long run if humans were eliminated from the workforce entirely? If this is the case, then what proof do you have to back up the assertion that you made?
