Question

What are the difference between right-sided and left-sided HF, their causes, clinical presentations, and diagnostic tests?

Expert Solution
Step 1

The right ventricle moves “used” or deoxygenated blood from the heart back to the lungs to be oxygenated. So when one has right-side heart failure, the right chamber has lost its ability to pump.  If this happens, legs, ankles, and belly often swell. On the other hand, the left ventricle of the heart provides most of the heart’s pumping power. So when one has left-side heart failure, the heart can’t pump enough blood to the body.
