Photosystem I

Chemiosmosis

calvin cycle

Photosystem II

Expert Solution
Step 1

The light-dependent reaction of photosynthesis contains two pigments. The photosystem I and photosystem II that absorb the light at a wavelength of 700 nanometers and 680 nanometers. The electron moves from photosystem II to I in a zigzag motion to finally produce ATP and NADPH. The light reaction uses the energetic photons to excite the reaction center of the chlorophyll to provide energy to the electrons for transfer. The electrons transfer through a series of proteins and pigments to eventually synthesize two energy-rich molecules called ATP (adenine triphosphate) and NADPH (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate-hydrogen).
