Hello Classmates, This past week I have sent a ton of emails, text messages, updated status, and photos. I have also left comments and browsed the internet. All of these things can and have led up to me leaving digital footprints across the worldwide internet. This previous week I was sending a text message to a family member, which included my credit card information, not realizing right off the back that I was leaving a digital footprint which anyone could possibly get into or see. Once I did realize what I did, I immediately went into to clear my cache to get rid of any credit card info I had sent so no one was able to get a hold of it. That would have been a diseaster for me. Also, within this week, I was replying to a very important email for work, that happened to include my social security number, so when I sent it, I made sure it was encrypted to make sure no one but the person receiving the email could see what was on the email. Most of us, including myself, do not realize that even when we post a picture and tag the location spot that we are at, leaves a digital footprint for hackers and many more to see. We must learn to be aware of how and when we clear out all of our data so we do not have any tracing back to us or let people try and phish us on the internet. Whether it be through a photo, an advertisement, or even an email. Most people fall for phsisng emails and then all of their accounts get hacked into. I have started clearing out my browser and resetting my passwords every time I feel as if I was on a fishy website, an email/text message that has to do with my bank, knowing that they do not send certain things out like that and simply being aware of what I research on my web browser.
