Scholarship To me the word scholarship means going through school forcing yourself to take the classes that are a little more advanced to strive to be a better student. By pushing yourself you not only have an easier time when exams rolls around, you help yourself become a better learner in the long run. Being scholarly means spending those few extra minutes every day doing your homework or soaking up as much new information as you can. Not all students have the natural ability to motivate themselves to do their work but they all have the opportunity to push themselves to become a better student. In more ways than one I have displayed what it means to be a scholarly student. For example, I’m currently enrolled in two AP classes, one honors class, and one college course. Keeping my gpa at or above a 3.82 at all times that means I have to utilize all the extra time I get to sit down and look over my work and study for the following day. Although it may be stressful at times I have to push myself to get through it, and that's the kind of mentality you have to have when your schedule is filled with challenging courses. Juggling sports and school adds a new dimension to the big picture. Going to school, then to practice, and then home makes your time limited …show more content…
There are two types of leaders in this world, ones that help guide a group of people to a conclusion or a happy ending and there are some that just crave the idea of being in charge and want to be superior. The leaders that have the group's best interest in mind and want to see them succeed are the type that we need more of in this world. Leadership is important because you have to know how to work well with others and you have to be able to guide your peers to do the right things. They must be able to stay calm in stressful situations and they must be able to treat others equally even if they are in
A leader on the other hand is one who help/facilitates the people, take risk and envision a better future for his group, encourages commitment and helps people move ahead along the path to accomplish a goal. Leaders are necessary to make decision, to direct activities and to speak for the community both in relation to its internal organization and his outside relationships.
Being a leader takes a special person. I have witnessed leadership, and I have also had roles being a leader. There are two prominent people in my life that come to mind when thinking about leadership. One is a woman who was a general manager for a fast food Italian restaurant who I consider a negative leader. She was a strict leader who wanted things done her way. She treated her employees poorly by making inappropriate jokes, feelings of distress because of her brash personality, and she also made them feel worthless by pushing unethical expectations on her lower level managers. The other person that comes to my mind when I think about leadership is a man that is a manager of a candy store who I consider to be a positive leader. He is compassionate and puts a lot of effort into making good relationships with
Why is good leadership important? Good leaders provide motivation and inspiration for a group. Effective leadership can help guide the direction of a group. The way a group can work effectively is if there is some form of
Being a leader does not always mean that you are the owner of a fancy title, know the most information or have the ability to recite policies and procedures. The true essence of the leader is showing courage, tenacity and patience when others lose their cool, having faith in others while taking responsibility for your own actions and having the ability to listen while being a successful communicator.
Leaders are individuals who are faced with challenges every day. They are placed in situations where important decisions must be made, often in just a matter of seconds. Being a leader and providing leadership is the ability to motivate individuals to accomplish a mission.
One of the most important necessities of a true leader is solitude. Taking time for yourself and deliberate what is right and what is wrong, what follows the moral law, and what makes it collapse. For instance, the decision of taking risks while a difficult situation will help to understand how to set and fulfill goals; the knowledge will be a highly useful to start getting things done. Actual leadership means being able to think of yourself, and act on own convictions. Consequently, a true leader will know who he is, what he wants. Unless he is able to listen to himself, to that quiet voice inside that tells him what he really care about, what he really believes in, he will be able to persuade others, and be an example.
Leadership is a great quality and every group be it a group of 3 people, organization, family, a company, or a country needs able and good leaders.
Leadership is about influencing people even when one has no formal authority. Rather than looking for followers, great leaders look for finding partners with whom they can share their values, craft a vision that they care about and help everybody
Leaders impact people's daily lives and futures. In good times and bad, there is always a need for strong leadership. According to Fesler (1960) leadership is a social process, it cannot exist without leader and followers. Leadership is results in followers’ behavior that is goal-directed in some sort of organized setting. In brief, leadership is a process by a person influences others toward the attainment of group or organizational goals. Like the words said by Keith (2003):” Leadership is ultimately about creating a way for people to contribute to making something extraordinary happen”.
Leaders are crucial to the continuing development of the human race. Without leaders, the world would hardly change from when humans first inhabited it. Leaders inspire change, with goals and aims in place to further develop the human race. While not all leaders have the same ideology as others, they are still reaching to enhance the population.
Hughes et al. (2012) states that leadership is a complex phenomenon involving the leader, followers, and the situation. Leadership is and has been very important at all levels of life. Not everyone has the power to influence, the integrity, the ethics and the motivation to undertake tasks whether they are simple and basic or complicated and advanced. One leadership researcher defines leadership as “the process of influencing an organized group toward accomplishing its goals” (Hughes et al. 2012). With that being said, Leaders need power to influence others and the ability to empower others. All great leaders start with a vision, and inspires people to engage with that vision as well as they are very efficient in developing, innovating, inspiring and motivating by coaching the team towards achieving the vision.
Leadership is a quality that everyone possesses, albeit in varying quantities. This quality portrays itself to everyone differently; some may have many ideas in similar, while some may have none in common. Leadership is (for me-but I shouldn’t say me etc tho) the act of guiding people towards a common end goal, often achieving (the goal) with greater efficiency than without leadership. There have been many great leaders throughout history, leading multitudes of people to new and subsequently loftier heights; Napoleon, Shackleton, Steve Jobs, and even Adolf Hitler. Sometimes these leaders are giants in the public eye, work under the level of public fame/infamy. Others exist in a grey area of neutrality, neither completely overshadowed by
According to Webster’s Dictionary, a leader is someone who “commands a group, organization or a country” but leadership is so much more than that. A good leader is a person who contains the perfect balance of humility and confidence. History teacher Michael Shimak says that the characteristics of charm, courage, passion, resourcefulness and, above all, responsibility are the most necessary for a true leader. Leading any group is more than just “commanding” them and it’s more than the power that comes with that; it is all about the responsibility that is needed to take a group of people in the right direction.
To begin with, being a leader does not always mean standing in front of a group of people and yelling out a battle cry through a megaphone. Leaders can be everyday people who inspire and motivate others and envision a better tomorrow. Each person has a different idea of leadership whether they are more superhero-like or an average person; they all have a common goal, change. A leader brings out the best in others and lets all voices be heard. Creating an environment in which everyone feels comfortable in is the job of a leader. If that environment is not established, it can cause feelings of exclusion and depreciation.
Like any other job, leadership requires control, organization, and hard work. A leader's job is to serve. He must serve those in higher positions than he; he follows their rules, and he helps them when called upon. A leader must also serve those below him. His job is to make them feel happy, comfortable, and respected. At times these two servile positions conflict. Therefore, a leader must also be quick-thinking and flexible.
