Pursuing My Dream Job Everyone wants to be something when they grow up, and there are millions of professions to choose from. During my four long years of high school, I have learned and experienced many things in and out of the classroom. Some of it helped me decide what profession I wanted to pursue when I graduated, but I mostly got the idea when I was eleven years old and my sister had her triplets that were born premature. I want to have a job that gives back to the community, that involves children and infants. I’ve had a lot of time to think about what I want to be when I graduate from high school. As a freshman and sophomore, thinking about a profession was not a priority because I thought I had plenty of time to decide. As I approached the time that I will be on my own, I started to panic a little. This profession that I chose will most likely be my job for most of my life. I thought of all the terrible things that could come out of picking the wrong profession. What if I end up hating this job? What if I won’t be able to meet the qualifications of the profession I decide to pursue? Thanks to my mom, she calmed me down and always had an answer. I was …show more content…
The main one is because I will have the privilege to help the children and infants of my community. As I work with them, I think it would be so cool to discover their personalities and see their progress. I had nieces and nephews ever since I was four. I was drawn to them from the day they were born, spending a lot of time babysitting and playing with them. Because of this opportunity, I get to see how different each one is. I don’t have any younger siblings, so when I am around my nieces and nephews, I learn how a child develops and matures. I understand how they act when they are going through different emotions. I think this is a great start to becoming a nurse, because now I know how to interact with and care for children and
The main reason why I knew Pediatric Registered Nursing was for me was through the many years of working with kids, as well as my personal interests and skills. Since I worked with kids, I gained a lot of patience and understanding, I always had a place in my heart for kids. I feel like every kid deserves a home and deserves to be treated the right way and I feel like I can make a difference to a kid’s life whether it’s through their health or just a relationship with them. I always been interest in the whole “working in a hospital environment” and since I was little I always been watching
During my senior year of high school, our graduating class had to take more than one career assessment. I was given choices in the health and human science field. I was a lover of science and the human body so there is no wonder on why I was given these career choices. You never think about choosing a career until you are given a list of what there is to do in the world. I put a lot of time and effort into choosing the career I want the rest of my life. I found that a lot of my childhood was spent in hospitals. When I was there I made sure to make time to look at the babies in the nursery. My mind would come up with a ton of questions regarding their life, family, and health. This lead me to choose a career pathway in neonatal nursing. Neonatal nurse practitioners normally deal with babies who need immediate medical attention, but sometimes there are instances when that is not the case. I would like to become a neonatal nurse practitioner so I can apply my education and experience to better the newborns’ health and well-being.
I am passionate of becoming a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. I got inspired to work in this field when I interned at hospitals such as the Veterans and at Community Regional Center in the children's clinic. I have always worked with children and like being part of their lives. Ever since I volunteered at Storey Elementary After school Program with kids on their homework, it assured me that working with children is what makes me happy. I want to impacts others lives positively. I am serious about my career path and I take every advantage to learn more about it. This was one of the reasons why I had taken part of the UCSF Doctors Academy program, because I wanted to learn more about the health profession and be exposed to it. Being part of the
As seniors in high-school we are always asked about what career we want to pursuit, and where we want to take our lives. I began thinking about what I like and what subjects I was good at. I found out I loved math and science and was good at them too. Then I knew that the health field was really for me. I began searching for ways for me to see if I really liked it, so I applied to go to scrubs health camp at Augsburg college near my house. I really liked it and saw that my love for kids had me leaning to becoming a pediatrician. I had my doubts on that also because of the number of years of schooling, and one day I stumbled upon a pediatric nurse practitioner occupation and began reading about it. I loved it so much that
Perusing in the nursing field has always been a goal that I wanted to achieve for many reasons. I always wanted my future to consist on being an accomplished nurse. I love working with people of all ages. Knowing that I can make a positive
Throughout my life, I’ve wanted to be many things. An astronaut, a princess, a doctor, a lawyer, and at one point in my life the president. Now that I am older and much more mature. I still haven’t decided what I wanted to be. When I first started my high school career, I was terrified. I didn’t know what I wanted to be. So I decided to try new things. I’ve been with choir ever since I was in the sixth grade, so I thought I would give it shot, and try something new. I started to take drama and art. I soon found out, that I wasn’t great at either of those things. I had stage fright and I sucked at drawing. But, I didn’t give up. I stayed with choir, drama, art, and basketball. Now that I am a senior and ready to graduate, I have found out I
When I was a child, I dreamt about being a doctor helping others. I knew at the early age of 7 that I wanted to make a difference in others’ lives. After the death of my mother in 1999, I slowly changed my mind about what I wanted to do with my life. I told myself that I would do whatever it took to help bring justice for families that go through what I went through with the death of my mother. As I was going through college I realized that criminal justice wasn’t for me after working in the field. I sat there one day wondering what I would do next and I realized I have a passion for helping others; and I love babies, so why not use that to my advantage. That is how I ended up here at Southern Careers Institute pursuing a career in the
I have an internal conflict right now, and will probably last for the next 3 years. I do not know what I want to be when I grow up. People say you have time left, but three year is going to go by really fast. I feel like I am not going to know what I want to by the time I graduate. Your sophomore year in high school is picking out a career, so I am worried.
When thinking about what career I wanted to pursue, I knew that I wanted to work with children and be able to make a difference in their lives. Volunteering has been a passion of mine since I was young, and as I have grown up I came to the realization that the opportunities I have enjoyed the most and felt that I made
Growing up I had always known I wanted to do something meaningful, something I thought was important, and change the lives of people around me. It was not until my freshman year of college I realized what I truly wanted to do. My friend had gotten pregnant and asked me to attend her ultrasound appointments with her. Once the time came I went with her to receive a check-up to see how the baby was doing. Watching her progress was one of the most fascinating things I had seen.
A career I would be interested in pursuing is being a park ranger. This job interests me because I love spending time outdoors and with people. It also is an interest of mine to keep our wonderful parks and woodland environments safe and to have them still be around for many more generations to come.
I chose to be a nurse because this allows me to interact more with people. Nursing is a great profession; it allows people to influence and touch lives. I am willing to obtain this significant responsibility. I am keen to be there for the patients through illness, injury pain, loss, grieving, birth, growth, aging, and health. I consider myself as determined and vigorous. I have the desire and determination to accomplish my goal of being a nurse. I am also thoughtful, caring, and open. I believe that my desire and traits would reflect on me being a nurse and would make me successful one.

I am now approaching the conclusion of my college career and starting to adjust to work life. This is a period of self-reflection and an attempt to put everything I learned into perspective. During this period of my life, I have been constantly thinking and contemplating my future. I feel very anxious yet nervous during this time while I am adjusting to this new stage of my life. When I was in High school my life was very structured, because I could be very dependent on peoples help and I obviously still lived with my family. When I went to college, I had to break away from that feeling of dependency and start the adjusting to adulthood. In college there was more responsibility and I started to become more independent. This was a crucial step in my life but choosing a career is going to be an even bigger step. It is a bigger step because; I have to start structuring my career goals and family goal for the future. At this moment all I can think about is my career, and how I can I keep improving myself for work life.
I have chosen a career as a paralegal. This is a field that I expect will be both challenging as well as professionally rewarding. As a paralegal, I will assist attorneys in the delivery of legal services (National Association of Legal Assistants, 2008). A career in paralegal studies is a prestigious, professional adventure and offers a wonderful opportunity while enhancing ones knowledge of the law and provides for challenges, growth and advancement.
