When we think of the words artificial intelligence, we often think about robots. The idea of artificial intelligence has been around for many years and even plays a role within psychology. Artificial intelligence, according to Kathleen M. Galotti, author of Cognitive Psychology In and Out of the Laboratory is defined as “A branch of computer science concerned with creating computer that mimics human performance on cognitive test”. Artificial intelligence is discussed in science, psychology and even in everyday life. The reason why artificial intelligence is considered a scientific controversy is because many people believe it is possible to have, while others think it is impossible. Scientists have named this concept artificial intelligence because it is a process that is not naturally smart. What scientists are trying to do is have computers being able to think like human beings. Although technology is always advancing in order to test these ideas out, a brain is a very complex artery that cannot be copied. Computers have been known throughout history to be smarter than actual human beings. Although that might be true, there are a lot of tasks humans can do that computers cannot. The brain is unique and therefore cannot be manipulated. Luc de Brabandere stated “A computer can recognize a face, but it can't find it beautiful.
