The Teen People, September edition, is a magazine designed to appeal to young female readers. Its content features well known celebrities, use of bright and flashy colors, and an organized layout that attracts an upbeat, young readership interested in high-quality appearance and style. Although the magazine’s main focus may appear to insure a great fashion sense, it also concentrates on a philosophical orientation by covering a more diverse readership that includes all colors, sizes, and shapes of females. Teen People also expands its audience by recognizing both visual and text oriented audiences. Similarly, the advertisement on page sixty four of the magazine uses an angelic/fairy tale theme to introduce Secret Deodorant to the visually stimulated audience. In the center of the page, a fairy-like woman stands in the midst of a very surreal setting with stars and a light blue sky. By using a woman who personifies a fairy, Secret manages to connect the new brand of Secret "Violet Dazzle" with a mystical theme. The bright hues of purple and the naturalistic atmosphere, once again, attract very young viewers to the product. Secret pictures a frail, flawless female to suggest that varying types of women may use their product and still resemble the pure and enchanting image. Thus, they incorporate the text "When you’re strong, you Sparkle," to show that by using their product, one can eliminate the fear of smelling and "sparkle" with confidence. The advertisement itself is very striking to the human eye. It’s busy layout and choice in colors captivates those who enjoy striking photography.

In “The Fashion Industry: Free to be an Individual” by Hannah Berry, Hannah emphasizes how social media especially advertisements pressure females to use certain product to in order to be considered beautiful. She also acknowledges the current effort of advertisement today to more realistically depicts of women. In addition, these advertisements use the modern women look to advertise products to increase women self-esteem and to encourage women to be comfortable with one’s image.

Those days when girls strive to be something they weren’t, were probably the most crucial days in body imaging. They succumbed into the pressure of looking how everyone else wants them to look. Such teeny bopper magazines sell to many young girls the idea of beauty. Teen Magazine is the princess of that royal court. In every young woman, or man’s mind, there is this longing to be desired. To be desired, you must be attractive. To be attractive, you have to look like that girl on page seventy-one in the latest Teen Magazine (Women’s Body Image).
Bored, to be weary and impatient because one lacks interest in one`s current activity. As the definition implies, to be bored is to lose interest in what you are doing. As this sense of boredom can only come when one is only doing the same activity for an extended period of time, I agree that teenagers today are too busy to be bored.

Stylist magazine features high end content that includes fashion, travel, beauty, people and careers news. Judging from the general content included in Stylist, such as aging creams, expensive perfumes and its ‘intelligent approach-covering a broader range of culture and tackling issues women face in their professional and personal lives’-it is evident that Stylist succeeds in attracting their intended target audience. Stylist aims to target affluent 20-40 year old female commuters and according to their media kit, Stylist’s typical reader are women of the average age of 33, with 7 out of 10 unmarried and with no children. Despite attracting this particular target audience it can be argued that- with Stylist’s vibrant front covers and fun features such as temporary tattoos,ways to deal with hangovers and make-up tutorials,Stylist is luring in younger readers thus expanding their audience as a whole.
Melissa Milkie’s article, Media images’ influence on Adolescent Girls’ self-concept, explores forms of media, more specifically magazines directed at teen girls, that effect young girls’ self -concept. Milkie demonstrates how our self-concepts are impacted by what we perceive others think of us and how we use the “third-person effect” in where we underestimate how much influence the media actually has on ourselves compared to others (54). Some of the major points of the article are the research methods and findings. Using a subsample of 60 high school girls from two different demographic populations (one rural, predominantly white high school and one ethnically diverse urban high school), Milkie studied the findings of the impact of girls’ magazines on teenage females. The results of this study showed that girl’s ethnic status, along with the differences in region, made a significant difference in whether the girls felt any connection with the images of beauty portrayed by the media.
Adolescence is a stage of maturation between childhood and adulthood that denotes the period from the beginning of puberty to maturity. However, many conflicting opinions are raised about weather such a stage of childhood is influenced by stress, depression, and suicide rate. Some people support the optimistic view that says that adolescence is not a period of storm and stress. As I flip through the magazine this holiday season I see pages of clothes that only the rich can afford, pictures of half-naked people draped over each other, articles about horoscopes and editorials talking about which teen star is the sexiest.
