Asking children to repeat back to you is one way of knowing that they understand, what you or the teacher has asked them to do. 2.3 Explain how different social, professional and cultural contexts may affect relationships and the way people communicate. When working in school and speaking to others you need to be aware of others and be considerate towards their feelings, thinking about the way we communicate in different situations in school. Different ways you communicate depends on where you are in the school setting such as meetings, talking to a parent, talking in the staff room at dinner time and talking to the children. In all situations you need to be aware and read the schools policy for communication and make sure you follow it in school at all times. Communication in school could be speaking face to face, talking on the phone, letter, fax or email. We need to keep in mind the way we communicate with others and the way we present ourselves and the use of our body language and who we are communicating to. Make sure you bend down to a child’s eye level, make eye contact, but also remember that this may be uncomfortable for some, such as a child with additional needs or speech impairment. We can change the way we communicate with these children or adults by using picture cards or notes. The different cultures may communicate differently; you need to be aware of this. 2. Understand how to communicate with
Communicating with children, young people and adults in an educational environment is an important part of a professional relationship
Building relationships means that as a school counselor, I have to interact with students, care about their personal lives and listen to their problems and share quality time with them. Students will feel safe, accepted and welcome every time they come to talk to me if they know that I am there to help them with their personal issues.
For most of us in our daily lives, there are many relationships in force, often simultaneously, as this is a natural consequence of human interaction. In a school environment, relationships are formed at many different levels - between children and their peers, between children and adults in the setting, and also between the adults themselves. It is only when good (positive) relationships are enabled in a school setting between everyone involved, can benefits then be derived for everyone involved,
Good Relationships: what the aforementioned article describes as “good relationships,” this candidate preferably refers to are “core relationships” are based upon four key elements: consistent communications; emotionally-safe learning space; mutual respect that fosters trust through feedback; time equity.
Since I already had build a estabnglishg professional relationship. I had some type of connected and experience .I had set a positive relationship. I like children so being comfortable and Friendly was so easily . The time and energy a student teacher devotes to relationship building has benefits for both children and teacher. (Machado
The classroom environment promotes relationship building among the children because there are two chairs that allow the teachers to sit comfortably but still be on the children’s level. This encourages the relationships to be built with the teachers because the children can come and talk to the teachers and the teacher can easily hear/see them. The children are also able to give the teachers hugs at this level. This is evidence that relationships have been formed because I have observed the children doing the things mentioned above. The environment lacks in the promotion building of relationships between teachers and parents because there are not many pieces of furniture that is comfortable for adults. They are welcome to stay and play with their child, but they have to stand, kneel on the floor, or sit in the child sized furniture. To help promote this is may be beneficial to have more than just 3 adult sized chairs in the classroom. There is a comfy couch and a chair in the library for the children, but they are not big enough for adults. There is a cuddle corner in the classroom that the children can go to when they are upset. There is also a cubby for each child to play their work to take home to share with their
Being in education since 2011, one of the many skills that I have acquired is how to establish personal, professional relationships with my students, and others thereafter by effective communication. Effective communication is the way of life and should be, and can be utilized across every area of life. Through this, I have taught many students how to express themselves in mature ways without the use of vulgar or unwanted attention. Such relationships have been developed and still embraced because it was through positive communicate that I took the time to explain to them what another may have brushed off.
I believe it is important to build strong relationships with students, parents and colleagues . I understand how important all three relationships are and providing my understanding and support to them all will be beneficial. I believe it is very important to build great relationships with students because they are very significant to my role as an educator. Students want to know they have support and I will make sure they have my support on all levels. It is important to keep the lines of communication open. Keeping parents informed and up to date with information about their child/children is important. Communication is very important to me, in order to make sure communication is strong I will keep the lines of communication open. I
When good communication takes place be children, young people and adults a relationship of trust will develop over time. Gaining trust is essential in order to learn about individuals learning needs. When I carry this out in my school setting the children gain confidence in me. This way, if a child is not acting in their normal manner, I would approach them and find out if they had any problems. Communication must be kept up to date on a regular basis, so the educator
It is essential to pupils learning that relationships are formed between themselves and the Teaching Assistant. The key to effective communication is to be able to listen carefully and take note of what has been said as not listening can cause a breakdown in relationships. Children need to feel comfortable, safe and confident in order for them to learn successfully. It is important that children feel happy with and feel that they are in the presence of someone they have a good relationship with and who listens to them. One of the main things an adult can do is when having a conversation with a child is to talk and to listen. It is important that children have good language skills, talking to them is an important way to support these skills
Positive relationships between teachers and students can determine student success or failure. Marzano (2011) notes that “Positive relationships between teachers and students are among the most commonly cited variables associated with effective instruction” (p.82). It is important that, we as educators, recognize the impact we have on our students. Teachers have a big responsibility and that is to not only meet the needs of the students academically, but to meet their needs emotionally as well. When a classroom environment is created and it promotes positive vibes it can channel everyone’s energy to be successful and reach their desired goals. My students and I have built a bond where they know they know when we can joke and laugh with one another and when it is time to get busy with work. Often times some teachers try to be
As indicated by Leana (2011), when “teachers are good at their jobs and also talk to one another frankly and on a regular basis about what they do,” student achievement improves significantly. This fact clearly demonstrates the importance of relationship building among teachers and administrators, which usually results in a successful school with a very positive atmosphere. However, the question arises as to what it takes to achieve this situation. As indicated by Brewster and Railsback (2003), there are many factors that mitigate against the development of
Both parents and teachers can also facilitate and support social skills and relationship building, another crucial aspect to achieving positive self-perception and self-esteem. Unsurprisingly, “friendships are seen as extremely important for the long-term well-being of children…they can improve attitudes to school, reduce the sense of
Through my my journals and the time I’ve spent at Gardner Pilot Academy, I’ve noticed more and more the importance of developing good relations with students and fellow teachers. At the start of this program, I did not even consider the impact of relationships on learning. This may be because although relationships have a vital role on one's education, they are so commonplace in our lives they go unnoticed by students in the classroom. The impact of these relationships, though, is very noticable when teaching. While assisting Ms. Ramon with her classes, I not only saw the relationships she had with her students and how they created a more positive and productive environment, but also the impact of those relationships. During the first couple days I was assisting, I noticed she always expressed interested in her students and treated them with respect. Throughout the rest of my time, I continued to notice this, and have also observed how she makes students feel their contributions are welcomed and how she collaborates with fellow teachers. Experiencing her relationship building process has helped me develop my own relationships, both with students and teachers. Relationships are key in creating a productive and positive learning environment.
So it is necessary to apply care and relationship education in a classroom is by creating a classroom community. This will create an environment where students feel valued and connected to their teacher and to one another. Some of the benefits of a school community include the growth of students social, emotional, and academic competence, improvement in collaborative learning, positive relationships with others, and inclusion. When students are involved with a community, their behavior can change and allow students to be more concerned about others, improved skills in resolving conflict, and an anti-bullying environment. In a community environment, student 's motivation is improved and their attendance is also improved.
