Banning cellphones in places like schools, restaurants, movies, and in stores is outrageous. Cellphones can be useful while shopping or going to dinner. There are coupons that can be search on a cellphone to get better deals. Looking for stores, movie theaters, and restaurants can be searched on maps. Teenagers like to go out and their parents like to know where they are at all times. Which this means that they will need their cellphones with them. First of all schools are strict about not allowing phones. Which it could help students concentrate better if teachers let them listen to music. It could help them stay on task and work harder. Music will help students relax so, this lets their brains have a break from thinking so much. Cellphones can also replace computers. Which not every school gives kids computers nor, do they have them. Researchers say that “ The students started doing their homework and they did work in class” (Halla is a teacher and he did a study on his students) The students did their work because he allowed them to use their cellphones. There are many learning apps they can use on their phones as a study tool. Some students learn better this way. They comprehend it more than they would writing it down and then reading it. Secondly, people use cellphones for a navigation tool or just looking up places near them. People use their phones for many uses. Finding places near them could show them new places to eat dinner or, they might go to a new shopping mall somewhere. People look to go to these places on there cell phone well if they find a store or restaurant that does not allow cellphones those people are probably going to leave. Same if a person is at a movie and they get their phone out to check the time. They could of dropped something so, they use the light on their phone. Then they get kicked out for it. The world is changing public places like this cannot keeps phones out forever. Public places are going to have to realize how much change there is in technology and the cellphones only make things easier. Anyone can go to the store and forget their shopping list so, that is why they made a note app on their phone. People can put their shopping list on that app and they will always
First, cell phones cause students to do badly on their work. If they are focused on their phone instead of what they're learning, they will not know what to do. This leads to lousy grades on homework, daily work, and tests. Having lousy grades lead to failing classes. Failing classes does not look good to colleges. This ripple effect could cause some students to not get into the college of their choice and it all
Kids would be better off if phones were allowed in schools. Phones provide students with a learning tool and allows them to earn teachers trust. Also, when kids have their phones they are happy, and happy kids are smarter kids. Cell phones can be used for a lot more than talking. Cell phones can be used in the classroom to help students with their assignments. Teens can use the calendars to record due dates for homework and tests. As teens we have grown to rely on our cell phones for all of our communication. Plus, students need cell phones in case of an emergency.
Phones are easy to use and very accessible by both students and teachers. “Smartphones allow us to take down notes any time, any place.” “smartphones allows you to access resources and material quickly before an exam.” “not only can we make videos, but we can also edit them, add text, filters, effects and more.” This is true because smartphones really do work in a way that is helpful to students and teachers. This evidence is supporting it by just stating that there are many cool and useful ways to use them.
Technology has been slowly integrated into the classroom for many years now. Some maybe older than others, but they have all seemed to make the learning and teaching process much easier and effective. Computers were introduced to the curriculum to help students better understand data collection, research, and word processing and Power Points were even added to give visuals to lessons. Cell phones on the other hand have been given the cold shoulder, and even completely banned by some schools. According to the article, “Are We Dialing Up Disaster,” by George Engel and Tim Green, eighty-four percent of high school students report to owning a cell phone and that number continues to increase (Engel 39). Because students are distracted
If we have cellphones in school, students can look up facts up easier and faster than you can do on our chromebooks. If we are allowed to have are phones and we are playing a game, and your volume is up it can distract the entire class if your phone is making noise. If you are in math or science class and you need a calculator you will be able to bring it up faster than you do on your chromebook. If we are allowed to have our phones we will be able to easily study for tests and might study longer because it is on your own device. They will like to do it on their phone so they can listen to music and stuff like that.
Phones can be used for mobile learning and be cost effective for schools. 70% of schools that had cell phone bans in place five years ago are reversing their policy, because they see devices as a learning tool instead of a distraction. Educators are really seeing devices as a learning tool, not just something for entertainment. Even though some kids might abuse the policy of having phones, they can be put to good use. Smartphones allow you to access resources and material quickly before an exam. In some schools, students bring their own devices to save the school money, so they can buy stuff like pencils, printers, paper, and etc.
Thirdly, cell phones are just another item, and banning them makes them more irresistible to people, especially teenagers. "As a student, I understand that cell phones are distracting while a teacher is trying to help the students--but at the same time, I believe they become even more distracting to the class as a WHOLE when teachers make a huge deal out of trying to take a phone away or punish a student for having a phone out."(Answer.yahoo.com-2009)Cell phones could be one of the 5 distractions-talking, playing, throwing, devices, and physical actions. With cell phones you're making less distraction to the class because you’re not disturbing anyone but yourself and that’s a good
“In homes, in social settings, and at workplaces, where people once interacted with each other and engaged in actual conversation, silence has now taken over as everyone’s attention is dominated by their email, their text messages, and their social media.” Nowadays, many cannot imagine life without a cellphone. Yet, as much has cellphones have plenty of pros, they also come with a whole lot of cons. In what ways are cellphones changing the way we live today?
Although cell phones can be a distraction in school because of social media, they come to a good cause if teachers actually look at it. Phones can be in a good cause because, when students go on field trips. The students would be able to capture field trip memories and post them on social media, the school could have a school website and the students would be able to post that to the website. Students would be able to imagine Historical figures and how it is used. Students would be able to research and look up things like pictures on instagram they have there on pages for Historical events. When students are in science they can record science steps and post, then instagram so people could get the video off of them and try them.
Overall, cellphones should be allowed in school for academic use because teenagers use them daily. It would work to the advantage of both the students and the teachers to incorporate cell phones with school work. Education will only continue to evolve as the years go on, and it is essential that technology is incorporated along with
We should not get rid of phones. Ballaro and Beverly claim that ”policy changes, driven by safety concerns of both parents and teens, fueled a national debate over whether the safety benefits of cell phones outweighed their potential to create a nuisance that interferes with learning.” Also, they believe “after the 1999 shootings at columbine high school and the september terrorist attacks, however, many schools eased restrictions on cell phones use in middle and high schools.” Supporters point out that vast numbers of parents and children depend on cell phones to communicate their daily life whereabouts and activities.” We should not get rid of cellphones there are many uses for phones. Cell Phones are people main lifestyle and use for everything
Although phones help with the learning process they are used a social status. Most kids have cell phones, and for those of which don’t, the ones who do share. They can be used to record group discussions and it gives us a chance to be more independent(Doc #3). On the other hand they are used as a status symbol. Jesse Scaccia says, “when their phones ring while the teacher is talking everyone laughs”(Doc
The use of phones in school can help the student’s with assignments that were given to them. If a student was given an assignment that requires them to research a topic they can use their phones to look it up. When the student is told to look up a subject on their phones without waiting. The student won’t have to wait for a computer to be available. If there isn’t enough computers for all the students they can
Have you ever wanted to use cellphones in school? Cell phones have many benefits and positive uses that help students during school a lot. Although cell phones can be distracting they should be allowed in school in case of an emergency, to teach responsibility, and to help in school like homework and research.
Many places in society are setting policies on digital device. The principal at my school has also set policies on banning cell phones in school. Students should not be permitted to use cell phones in school. Using cell phones during school allows students to cheat. Students will be more distracted by cell phones and pay less attention to the teacher and to the lesson. Students have a higher chance of getting in trouble if they use cell phones in school rather than if they are not allowed to use digital devices in school.
