Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is affecting children and adults at vast numbers. The growing numbers of people affected by Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), made the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recognize the importance of educating the public. The CDC discusses the signs and symptoms, different types of ADHD, causes of ADHD, diagnosis process, treatments, and resources with the public. The CDC is a trusted agency. Making assumption as health care professionals that the criteria for determining accuracy and relevance of health information improves the quality of information consumers can access. Having the methods to measure reliable sourced health information websites is a credible support for patients and other members of the public. Consumers of health information need to be educated about how to look for information that is up to date, relying on websites which are known for sharing evidence based facts. Website evaluation also needs to include an overview by the user to establish who runs the site, what do they say, when was the information posted, where was the information retrieved from and why does the site exist (National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, 2014). By providing a systematic approach or framework to evaluate the site, health care professionals are able to support consumers in accessing information which will improve their understanding of relevant issues and treatment options. This ultimately benefits both the health care provider and the consumer of this information, encouraging a team
Caveat lector is a Latin phrase meaning, “let the reader beware.” Health information on the internet is growing at an alarming rate. However, some information on the internet is not accurate or current, and unfortunately, many web sites regarding healthcare offer misleading, incomplete, and incorrect information. Many consumers do not have the knowledge to judge and evaluate the quality of online information. This paper aims to discuss how the website WebMD presents information to readers. It will evaluate WebMD according to its source, where was the source obtained; type of funding, is it commercially funded or private; the validity and quality, how valid is the information and can it be verified; and privacy, is your personal information

Education of patients and families regarding the reliability of internet information is prudent. Given the enormous amount of information available via the World Wide Web, not all of which, as you illustrate, is reliable, it is of great importance that patients and families comprehend the unreliability of some of the information they may acquire. Patients who are unable to gain access to health care secondary to a lack of funds, insurance, or availability of their provider, may be inclined to review their symptoms utilizing a search engine. Moreover, patients who were incapable of accessing healthcare due to reasons other than a lack of insurance are more likely to utilize the internet to obtain health related

The CDC, in this case, has creditability and trustworthiness because they are a government agency. Because it is an American Government agency the written text is able to convince the readers in believing the details of ADHD, and the course of treatment. Determining the credibility of a website starts with tools that can be used to evaluate the site. According to assignment guidelines, I have identified and compared two separate websites. Both websites primary audience are individuals seeking medical information. Although both websites are targeting the same primary audience the demographic of people is completely different. The website patient.info aims to target individuals seeking medical information who have little to no medical background. While on the other hand Jama network is targeting medical professionals. Patient.info could have a secondary audience of medical professionals. Those individuals who might be monitoring the website to ensure it is providing safe medical advice. The secondary audience of Jama network could be students who are looking for scholarly research done on specific illnesses. Although both websites have similar primary audience, they differ greatly in development and overall
During the course of nine weeks, I have studied and constructed the first of what I hope will be many Web sites. The course subjects I learned included planning the site, planning the navigation around the site, learning how to use Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), using graphics and color to enhance the site, and creating pleasing layouts. However, most important aspect of designing a Web site that I learned was to adhere to web design best practices. These best practices help to “create well-coded Web sites to strictly follow the standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The World Wide Web Consortium was organized
In the opening chapters of Web Analytics 2.0, Kaushik dives into the new practices and purposes of web analytics and the basics of clickstream success. Likewise, in Google Analytics the authors introduce the subject of Google Analytics as a free web analytic tool; they describe what it is, and how to use it. Web Analytics is a procedure in which web data is collected, measured, analyzed, and reported.
