We all remember those boring days back in middle school where the worksheets were given out everyday, and you were just waiting for that beautiful sound of the two words “group work” to run through your ears and brighten up your day. It just made you want to jump out of your seat and start working because of how excited you were. In my opinion, group work is something that I must strongly agree with because it helps with so many things including teaching different real life skills, lets you have fun, and helps you meet new
I believe our group work is going well. We haven’t had many meetings concerning bringing all the work together, but people have been working had individually as noted in the annotated bibliography. One complaint is that in the agreement we said that the annotated bibliography would be completed by the Sunday before the due date, when in actuality two members did not add their work to the group until the day the assignment was due. However, this is minor in the larger scheme since it was completed and submitted on time. We have made plans to come together next week to work on the project together and how and where everyone’s contribution will be placed. Overall I don’t have much to complain about as communication and work ethic are good. I
In my opinion, group work is a type of cooperative learning that helps people to accomplish a certain task in a faster and more effective manner. Team working also helps to achieve the tasks that are impossible to finish by one individual. However, if people in a group have a lot of conflicts, group work will not be able to achieve as much as we expected. There are many reasons which lead to dissatisfaction in group work such as individualism as well as conflicts in opinion and time.

Have you ever wondered what got the Beatles or ACDC so far in their career? They were in a group and that benefited them in multiple ways just like group projects benefit us in the classroom. I think that having group projects benefits us and our whole entire learning atmosphere in a positive way. Group project and activities benefit us by giving a more positive and less tense environment for learning, they help us learn social skills when we work together with other people in our groups and finally group projects let us take enjoyment in what we are doing our project on and we can have a better experience while participating in this project. I like group projects and I think we should have more of them in and out of the classroom.
Since much of our time is spend in groups, it is helpful to work in groups because it will give an opportunity to improve their human functioning. Group work helps to develop individual skills in communication, relationship building and asserting oneself
Groupthink: Groupthink is a way that groups may try to keep levels of conflict low. The problem is that all members pretend that they agree with a decision, which discourages creativity. Without counter arguments being presented, the group is susceptible to bad or even irrational decisions (Beebe p. 191).
Group work has been a cornerstone of the social work profession and requires a variety of facilitator skills and awareness of group processes. The SSLDTM Group Program for People with Difficulties in Social Situations (Socialwork1914, 2017) provides an excellent example of a psycho-educational group co-facilitated by two female social workers, Jane and Karen. After viewing the 6th session of this 8-week program, I began to understand how the concepts of group formation/development, interpersonal dynamics, and leadership styles contribute to successful group work outcomes.
Knowing the group purpose is important when doing group work. You are in a group for a reason and defining the purpose of the group straight on will help keep it on the right path. Group purpose can help prevent distraction that may rise when working in groups. Having a group purpose will typically provide directions on what they group is supposed to be doing, information they should be finding, or topics that need to be addressed. Creating a group purpose will lead different mission statements. This will essentially help the group members understand what is they are supposed to do in the group. This leads me to my next point that ideas for groups can generate from a variety of places including group work, agency staff, members, and community generated. Purposes and ideas such from these sources can clarify some of the purpose of groups.
Outside of the study of leadership, the words “group” and “team” are often synonymous. When applying these words to the study of Full Range Leadership Development, these two words fall on opposite ends of the synergy spectrum. Sosik and Jung (2010) explain that in a group, individuals are focused in a self-centered manner; the completion of their work is focused heavily on the good of the individual and there is not much consideration for how their work impacts the overall performance of the group (p. 305).
Tell us about the most successful group project you have ever been a part of
In our house winter is basketball season and, while I'm not a rabid fan, I do watch my fair share of games. The thing I like about basketball is that it is such a clear picture of teamwork. Only five players on the court, each responsible for both offense and defense, each with an assignment, but all that really matters is getting the shot. In the end, it's about making more shots than the other team.
PLACES! Everyone springs into action as the play begins. Allowing us to do a play for our final project will not only premit us to have this feeling but it will help increase teamwork, be helpful later in life, and allow us to express ourselves on the drama side.
This assignment will aim to define what group work is, outline the history of group work, its advantages and disadvantages and the use of group for individuals suffering from ill mental health. The second part of this assignment will be a reflection that will outline the authors personal experience of participating in a group in the university setting and the challenges and growths associated with that. Human beings naturally form groups and are shaped by them. Usually beginning in the microcosm of the family and extending to larger societal and cultural groups.
Many of my opportunities and experiences have come through being a Caucasian female and not having to work as hard to attain all that I have. I understand that I go into my groups with a level of power and privilege that most of my clients probably will never have. Many of the clients who are in my groups struggle with having their basic needs met which was never something I needed to worry about growing up. One of the boys in our Social Learning group was not having his needs met at school and mom did not have the skills to advocate for him. Compared to my childhood, whenever there was a problem at school my parents had no problem doing what was necessary to have it resolved. Because I have not faced struggle in the same way that some of my clients have, I often feel inadequate as a group worker as I cannot relate to them in that way.
Group work is useful because it A B C reduces teacher talking time. improves class discipline. makes all students work as hard as they can.
