Today the Obama Administration has developed a reform that will by far improve the overall condition of the US Healthcare system -- The Affordable Care Act (ACA). This legislation has groundbreaking promise to change the healthcare system, as we know it. Unlike unsuccessful past reform efforts that employed incrementalism, the ACA proposes change to address the United States healthcare system.

On March 23, 2010 the federal statute was signed into law in the United States by President Barack Obama. The Act is the product of the healthcare reform agenda of the Democratic 111th Congress and the Obama administration. The bill has a multitude of benefits that are advantageous for Americans. For years insurance companies have been able to practice without the consumers best interests in mind. No one should have to be denied health care service based on an insurer’s decision. Ultimately, Americans should receive recommendations for service based on their health care provider’s professional expertise, not the discretion of the insurance company. After all, healthcare professionals are trained and certified to help improve the health of individuals, not the insurance companies.
