Christianity claims that God sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to earth over 2,000 years ago to save humanity from sin. One of the main reasons Jesus was sent to earth was to preach the word of God and convert people into Christians. Jesus is the perfect human and was created in God’s image. Although Jesus is not God, God is Jesus. So for those few individuals that saw Jesus Christ have seen the face of God. Unlike other religions, Christians do not have to ponder about what God is like or what God expects of us, because we have the word of Jesus, and God is Jesus.

The life experience during the kid’s time is one of most important time in the life. I have learned this by the hard way. When people looking for how should their kids to learn, I think people should pay more attention to what are their kids learning. Times are changing, the old thought of teaching might not fit in today anymore. I am always hoping one day today’s student could teach kids， because today’s student knows more about what kids like, what should kids know at this time of the day. SEU’s CCU class’s Cultural Engagement Assignment have given me a chance to see my childhood dream in life. I have decided to go one of the activity on Saturday. I have gone three times, first time I want is because I have to; the second time I want is because I like it and I want to do something I can to help the kids, also I want to know about the kids grow up in the family that not so good. Before I want the activity, my understanding of “Cultural Engagement,” is the connection between the people and the cultural, but after I want the activity, my understanding of “Cultural Engagement” has changed, it became what kind of culture for the kids have been growing up have affected to their dream and behavior. I will never forget a point that so many pastors have mentioned - Christians should never need to tell others that they are Christian but people should able to tell that we are Christian. In this Ethnographic paper, I will be interviewing and discussing the differences between my culture and that of another. My culture consists of two-parts, one being Puerto Rican and the other being Caucasian. I will be interviewing my best friend’s mother Cristina Carlesso Dager, who is from Venezuela. South American culture consists of many influences due to the arrival of the Europeans; Europeans cultures brought a mix of Spanish, Portuguese, and French creating what we know today as Latin America. This paper will highlight key topics discussed in class like kinship, political and social organization, food, clothing, religion, etc. From this interview, I want to gain a new-found knowledge of what is like to be from a different culture then my own. I will interview Mrs. Dager with no bias and will cover every subject to my capability. I am interested in discovering the differences between our cultures, so that I can be aware of this diverse world that I live in.

In my opinion, avoidable disjunctions over trivial matters harm the church and interrupt the fellowship of believers. For example, my former pastor caused worthless and unloving disunity in our church because he fervently adhered to his Reformed theology at the expense of others, despite no decisive evidence regarding this doctrine existing in the Bible. Sadly, several strong Christians left our Church and never returned. Nonsensical divisions such as this lead to the innumerable formations of denominations and alienation of believers. My cultural informant was a friend who I have known for about six and a half years, Lisa. Lisa’s sister, Liya, and I became close friends during my freshman year of college. Liya, two other girls, and I became roommates from sophomore year through senior year. Lisa is a year younger than me, so I met her during my sophomore year. Liya and Lisa were international students from Ethiopia, so they often spent holidays and breaks with my family and I. The three of us became close during our college years, and I had the opportunity to visit them in Ethiopia in the summer of 2015. Paul outlines 3 major ideas in the way that all believers should relate to one another. Paul begins with the posture that we should take with one another. That posture has 3 goals: humble and gentle (without exception), dealing with one another in love, and eager to maintain unity in the church as a whole. Sadly, we have lost sight of this posture not just interracially but also inter-denominationally and cross culturally. While all of these goals are extremely difficult to begin to achieve they are even more necessary to maintain. We are then reminded of the way and reason that we should seek to maintain this unity. In Ellensburg, where Veronica lives, English is the primary language used. There are some negative attitudes about second language learners and their need to speak English. The town is make of wealthy, middle class and poor, although it is predominately middle class. The Census in 2010 showed that 85.7% of the population was white, 1.5% African American, 1% American Indian/Alaskan, .2 Native Americans/Pacific Islander, 3.2% Asian, and 9.7% Hispanic (Census 2014) (they can be classified as many different races. The power in the town is predominately while and it does reflect the population of the community.

The last person I interviewed was Lara who is from Kopavogur, Iceland. The first thing I wanted to know about Iceland was how people compared socially to people in the U.S.. She told me that socially it is very different. People are very pleasant especially strangers you see around town, but when you go shopping someone holding the door for you is not something that is common like in America. It is not that people are rude, just that strangers here aren’t as willing to speak to those whom they don’t know. The next thing we talked about was the food in Iceland and how different it is from American food. She stated, “Everything in Iceland does not have to be transported such long distances, so our food is more fresh because we don’t have to add as many preservatives. The food is of higher quality than in America because of how pure the ingredients are. We also don’t have as many fast food restaurants because of how unhealthy they are, and because the price is just the same as preparing your own food. We also don’t have food places that serve breakfast because it is more common to cook your own.”. The final question that I asked everyone else I interviewed I asked Lara. “What did you think America was going to be like before you came here?”. She replied with that she had already been to the northern part of America such as Boston which

Completing the personal cultural survey I was able to identify the way I approach my life through my eyes. Since completing this survey I have seen my worldview through my lens and the way I approach people, and my way of life. Furthermore, I have identified that my numbers were very similar to one another, and that my average score was (4). Thinking upon this I was pondering why my average score was a (4) for everything. Maybe I grade myself too harshly or become too analytical with this test because I am a very detailed person.

However, many of them do not have a full understanding of what they are choosing to believe. Christianity is a religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. The word Christianity* originated around the year 1300 and evolved from old french word “Crestienté. “Christians as a whole¨ is its literal definition (Harper 1). It is common Christian belief that God sent his one and only son, Jesus, to be born of the Virgin Mary and deliver His message to the world. During the interview, I told Anna of many health risks that Filipino immigrants have. Stanford University’s website says Filipino immigrants are considered at risk of hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes at midlife and old age, and other metabolic problems. Liver cancer among Filipino males and females was second only to the Chinese and three times higher than among whites. The religion Christianity is grounded through the wisdom and miracles of Jesus Christ. Many may call him Jesus or Christ but in actuality Jesus is Christ which means anointed one. Jesus Christ was no average person, he is the God the Father who came to this world and fulfilled the Old Testament laws and prophecies, died on the cross, and rose from the dead physically. As savior that came on earth to restore his people he performed many miracles which were recorded in the Gospels by the eyewitnesses. Jesus Christ is the divine in nature as well as human. Thus, he has two natures and is worthy of worship and prayer. Christianity teaches that there is only one God in all existence. Although philosophies have tried to prove otherwise the reality is that God made the universe, the Earth, and created man starting with Adam and Eve. According to Genesis 1:27 it states that “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them”. Image means the likeness of God 's character, rationality, etc. Since we are made in the image of God, every person has an opportunity to be more like him less like sinful ways of the world.
