Supply chain management systems are used to track information and inventory across different region markets and nationwide. An automated tracking of inventory allows the movement of products such as modems to be available for a technician on the day of install. The way that an autonomous agent can be used is with a supply chain management system where the agent can schedule employees for jobs and request trucks to roll out for installations. It helps to allow the supply chain to keep moving and organized by having the intelligence to recognize when trucks are available to schedule, or knowing when a technician has free time to fill for an installation. A distributed system is used within Comcast where the software agent has access to two different computer systems and allows them to communicate back and forth. When Comcast first started they utilized this original system and then they brought in Salesforce. This distributed system works on both systems to allow the communication of information to flow back and forth between the two systems. Using a mobile agent system allows employees who are not connected to the Comcast network to VPN remotely since the software agent is able to relocate itself onto different computer systems despite not being at a Comcast location.
