Chemical Reaction Of Chemical Reactions

Good Essays

Introduction:
A chemical reaction is the process of rearranging the atoms in reactants to create new and unique substances known as products (3). Substances are either a chemical element or compound, which cannot be broken down into simpler substances by normal chemical procedure (3). Reactants are substances that undergo specific changes in the process of a reaction while products are the final product of the reactants when the chemical reaction is completed. In a chemical reaction the least amount of energy needed is known as activation energy. Activation energy is the amount of energy required for a chemical reaction to undergo its operation (6). In mathematical expressions or equations the letter E is depicted as activation energy …show more content…

There are six different types of chemical reactions, synthesis, combustion, decomposition, single displacement, double displacement and acid base. The synthesizing of a reactant, also known as a synthesis chemical reaction, is when a new chemical compound is being created into a more complex form than what it was before.
B + E + N ---> BEN

A combustion chemical reaction is when oxygen or O is joined with a different compound in order to form water and carbon dioxide. Combustion reactions release and produce heat meaning it is exothermic. Decomposition reactions are the reverse or complete opposite of a synthesis reaction. In a decomposition reaction a complex molecule is broken down into simpler forms. (9)

BEN ---> B + E +N
A single displacement reaction is when substances flip flop with one another in a compound. The key to single displacement reactions is the movement of electrons from one element to another. Elections are negativity charged particles and particles make up atoms. (9)
E + BN ---> EN + B
A double displacement reaction is when anions, a negativity charged ion, and cations, ions which contain more protons giving them a positive charge, of two separate molecules switch places creating two new sets of unique compounds. (9)

JA + CK ---> JK + AC
Finally the last type of chemical reaction is an acid base reaction. An acid
