Worldwide, breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death for women; is the leading cause of cancer death for women between the ages of twenty and 59; one in ten of all new cancers are female breast cancers; and the highest incidence of breast cancer in the world is in North America (Lanfranchi et al. 110). In light of these upsetting statistics, if studies had found a potential risk factor that may substantially increase a women’s risk of developing breast cancer, then women should be informed about this risk factor and the topic should be researched more thoroughly. This potential risk factor is not simply a hypothetical scenario, however; this has actually happened. The potential link some researchers believe to have found is between having an induced abortion and an increased risk of developing breast cancer. The first epidemiological study that claimed to find a positive link between abortion and increased risk of breast cancer dates back to the late 1950s. Although when the theory was first proposed is irrelevant to whether the abortion-breast cancer link (ABC link) is a reality or merely conjecture, some have not heard of the link regardless of the fact that the hypothesis has been debated for 50+ years. A personal survey conducted on November 28th, 2017 revealed that out of 100 respondents, only 60 had heard of the abortion-breast cancer link (Bertsch).
Despite the fact that the ABC link theory has existed for so long, many are still asking the question: “Does
Abortion has been a heated debate in the United States for decades. Since before the ruling on Roe v. Wade, it is clear that this is an issue that is far from ever being decided upon. Between those who are pro-life and those who are pro-choice, scholars from both sides work on disproving the morality of the other side. With the evolution of abortion laws and regulation through the decades, it is difficult to imagine the United States without conflict pertaining to abortion. Despite pro-life and pro-choice agendas, the country is in ever-changing opinion when it comes to abortion.
One of the most estranging moral and politically controversial issues in the United States is the stand on abortion. By definition an abortion is the termination of a pregnancy and the expulsion of pregnancy tissue, including embryo, fetus, placenta, and membranes (Wicclair, Gosman 2005). In the recent years the debate on abortion has shifted to a different viewpoint that has reopened the conversation of abortion and has generated a healthy following for abortion control. The premise of abortion control is to implement community outreach programs that will help reduce the number of abortions. I feel this would be a healthy compromise for the abortion debate, but many citizens are wholly against the idea of abortion being an option based of various personal beliefs they each hold. Anti-abortionist believe the most effective way to reduce abortions is to make it illegal. The other side of this coin are the people representing the stance for the legalization of abortion and Pro-Choice. Pro-Choice activists believe that women should have the right to make the final decision of whether an abortion is suited for their situation or not. What anti-abortionist’s seem to ignore is the large number of deaths resulting from women participating in unsafe abortion practices out of desperation. The running estimate totals over seventy thousand women each year falling victim to these malpractices with many of them sustaining lifelong injuries (xxx). Even with these consequences looming

Many people throughout history have fought to have the choice to have an abortion if they like. For example cases such as: Roe v. Wade and Parenthood v. Casey, which made a big impact in the system.
In the United States there are more than a billion abortions performed each year. Since the court case Roe vs Wade in 1973 more than 56 million babies have been murdered in the United States before they had the chance to take their first breath (Snyder, Michael). These statics along with many more show the huge injustice that is happening in the country I call home.
According to Webster Dictionary, abortion is “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus”. There are two sides when it comes to abortion: pro-life and pro-choice. Pro-life supporters are usually religious individuals, individuals who believe it is a kind of murder, and/or people who believe in the sanctity of life. Pro-choice supporters are normally individuals who believe a woman has the right to her own body, it is not a form of murder, and some individuals believe that there are limits. The main point of disagreement between both of these sides is whether an embryo/ fetus is a human so should it be legal or illegal and is it immoral?
Abortion is a controversial topic in today's society due to reasons of religion, morality, science, and ethics people perceive. Currently there are two sides to the argument such as pro choice and pro life which push if abortion should be illegal or not. Pro choice supporters believe that individuals have unlimited autonomy with to their own reproductive systems, as long as they don't breach the autonomy
“I have also said that anyone who doesn 't feel sure whether we are talking about a second human life should clearly give life the benefit of the doubt. If you don 't know whether a body is alive or dead, you would never bury it.” That was just one quote said by Ronald Reagan on the topic of abortion. He also said, “I 've noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born.” Many people, like Reagan once was, are against abortion and believe that it is morally and ethically wrong. Likewise, many people, including Alan Dershowitz, support it. Alan has said, “I can 't find anything in the Constitution that says you prefer the life of the mother, or the convenience of the mother if it 's an abortion by choice, over the potential life of the fetus. Look, I think women, if they 're required to not have abortions, could die and could - so I favor a woman 's right to choose.” Abortion has been an extremely controversial topic since the 1960s, and has grown into an even more controversial and sensitive topic as the decades went by. There are two main sides to the argument on abortion: pro-life and pro-choice. People who are pro-life, such as myself, are against abortion, and their argument mainly defends the unborn baby. People who are pro-choice support abortion, and their argument is solely based on the physical, mental, and economic well being of the mother. The controversial topic of abortion has two sides, with the pro-life side
Abortion is one of the topics that each individual has a perspective on. According to (Wikipedia) an “ abortion is the ending of pregnancy by removing an embryo or fetus before it can survive outside the uterus. Abortions have always been a controversial topic to discuss given that everyone has a different perspective about it.
When the topic of abortion is discussed people tend to assume one of two standpoints: “pro-life,” they believe that the woman should not have the right to abort a human life because it would be murder or “pro-choice,” they believe that the woman carrying the fetus should be given the ability to decide whether to carry the baby to term or to abort it. Although Americans are divided on the subject of abortion by these beliefs, most do not fall strictly on one side or the other and ultimately the majority favor restricted availability. Abortion is a cruel and disgusting crime, but some still think that it is okay (Arguments For and Against Abortion).
The history of 'abortion ' in the United States is more complex than most people imagine. Abortion and issues surrounding abortion are involved in intense political and public debate in the United States, law varies from state to state with regards to state legislature of abortion. 'Until 1973, the control of abortion, was almost entirely in the hands of the government of the state. ' (Vile. M. J. C, 1999, P203) The focal legal debate surrounding the issue of abortion is whether a foetus has a basic legal right to live, which turns on to the question on when a foetus is potentially a person (when it becomes 'viable ') and therefore should be ultimately protected from this point. 'Pollitt identifies that to have the legal right to have an abortion, was a transformative event for women’s liberation: it saved women from death and injury; and enabled them to commit to education and work. It also changed how women saw themselves; as mothers by choice not by fate.’ (Kennedy. S, 2014, P56) This essay will critically discuss the role and variety of actors involved in the discussion of abortion in the United States, and the impact they have politically, socially and economically, by critically exploring relevant theory.
On the other hand, Marquis's believes that abortion is immoral. He argues that all cases of abortion is wrong and rarely will there be special circumstances to justify the killing of a human being. In Marquis's opinion, killing a fetus is equal to killing an innocent adult life. His whole argument is based off a major assumption.
Throughout this entire course we have learned about several different issues that women have faced for several years and that they still face even today. One of the lessons that stood out the most to me was the one about abortion. This is not just an issue that affects women but this issue affects men as well. Abortion is a major topic in today’s society. You have a great number of people who against it and there are also some who support it. There are many different situations that a person takes into consideration before making their decisions. I believe that the article “And So I Choose” by Allison Crews that we read in class was a major eye opener for many people. Though I am pro-life, I learned a lot from this particular piece. I think
There has been a recent study that shows many complications after abortion. 62% Higher Risk of Death from All Causes, 2.5 Times Higher Risk of Suicide Compared to women who give birth, women who abort have an elevated risk of death from all causes, which persists for at least eight years. Higher risk of death from suicide and accidents were most prominent. Projected on the national population, this effect may contribute to 2,000 - 5,000 more deaths among women each year.1 Southern Medical Journal, 2002. 65% Suffered Trauma, 31% Had Health Complications In this study comparing American and Russian women who had experienced abortion, 65% of American women studied experienced multiple symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which they attributed to their abortions. Slightly over 14% reported all the symptoms necessary for a clinical diagnosis of abortion induced PTSD, and 84% said they did not receive adequate counseling. 31% had health complications afterwards.4 Medical Science Monitor Medical Science Monitor, 2004. Even though safe abortion is used throughout the world it has a high risk of having side effects on your
Abortion is defined in several ways all of which stop a pregnancy. There are different ways of abortion, which are spontaneous abortion, surgical abortion, and medical abortion. Abortion has been arguable topic for decades. One can neither believe abortion to be good nor bad. The idea of individuality and human life is not quite the same. Idea of human life has come from conception; simultaneously on the other hand, fertilizer eggs used for in vitro fertilization are also human lives but eggs unable to implant are routinely thrown away. Would you like to call it a murder and if not, then how is abortion a murder? Arizona is known as a state that is very much against abortion. In 2012; Arizona was named Americans United for Life’s “Pro-life All-Star.” Since 1995, center for Arizona policy has supported 30 bills that have been signed into law that promote pro-life.
