Here is the section of the style guide that might help you with your citations.

The purpose of this paper is to provide you with written instructions on some of the basic guidelines with the new APA format (American Psychological Association, 2009). In addition, this paper is written in APA format to provide you with a visual image of how many aspects of papers should be written, from the title page, to headings, to references in text, and the reference page. This paper is not met to be a comprehensive explanation of APA format, but will provide the reader with the basics. So, please buy the manual and read it.

Throughout the semester I, along with my classmates, have completed several essays and other assignments that highlight the use of the recursive writing process, critical reading strategies, conventions of English, research techniques, and MLA format. The APA style originated in 1929, when a group of psychologists, anthropologists, and business managers convened and sought to establish a simple set of procedures, or style rules, that would codify the many components of scientific writing to increase the ease of reading comprehension (“What is APA Style®,” n.d.). The American Psychologist Association began with thirty-one men who were fascinated with the new field of psychology in 1892 (Fabery, 2014). Since then more and more members have been joining the association. In 1928, the U.S. National Research Council sponsored a conference to set stylistic standards for the publication of manuscripts in anthropological and psychological journals which many prominent editors, journalists, psychologists, and anthropologists attended (Fabery, 2014.) The conference released a seven-page article with recommendations for writing. Turabian’s Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations presents two basic documentation systems: notes-bibliography style (or simply bibliography style) and author-date style (sometimes called reference list style). These styles are essentially the same as those presented in The Chicago Manual of Style, sixteenth edition, with slight modifications for the needs of student writers.
