Running head: STATEMENT OF PURPOSE 1 Statement of Purpose Liberty University Hilda Pena January 30, 2024
Running head: STATEMENT OF PURPOSE 2 Statement of Purpose Since attending Church, I have had numerous meaningful discussions with both the pastor and the life group I am a part of, focusing on strategy and strategic thinking within the ministry. As I delve deeper into this subject, I have come to realize that ministry leaders can possess both spiritual and strategic qualities, and it is crucial to think strategically for long-term success. My objective in pursuing a doctoral education in Christian Strategic Leadership is to assist my community church in fostering a movement that mobilizes individuals to care for their local community. I firmly believe that leadership plays a vital role in our church and community today. This means that we should strive to be exceptional leaders, taking Jesus Christ as our ultimate example. Godly leadership necessitates positively influencing others, just as Jesus did, who was the greatest leader and attracted numerous followers. Additionally, godly leadership requires us to follow those who are stronger than us in all aspects. In the Bible, God calls leaders to embrace being under authority, as demonstrated by their ability to submit to God and obey His commands. God's plan emphasizes that leaders recognize their primary duty is to follow another, and this mindset can significantly impact every aspect of our lives. With Jesus as our perfect example, leaders are servants who possess a heart of servanthood, prioritizing the needs of others above their own. Leadership Qualities Leaders should have a spirit that is sensitive and content. They should demonstrate love towards one another that is kind, selfless, patient, humble, and does not harbor ill thoughts.
Running head: STATEMENT OF PURPOSE 3 Church leadership should strive to please God in all aspects by making sound decisions and challenging others' choices within the context of the Bible. In the same vein, it is incumbent upon the church leaders to educate the younger generation in the ways that are pleasing to God. Christian leaders must rely solely on God's teachings and not on their own personal logic or past encounters. The leaders must exhibit integrity and godly character, as they are looked up to and emulated by others. This necessitates that the leaders possess the correct attitudes and the mindset of Christ as they serve others. Christian leadership plays a crucial role in our churches and ministries, as it attracts more individuals to God. Christian leadership also entails a great deal of modesty and selflessness. It is clear that in order for us to have an impact on our society, churches, and ministry, we must be diligent ministers who genuinely strive to meet the needs of those around us. Christian leaders are sacrificial and do not impose their procedures and beliefs on others. In essence, in order to make a difference in the lives of others, they themselves must be different. Church leaders should not use their positions for power, recognition, or popularity among their followers, but rather they should strive to follow the example of Christ. It is also crucial for leaders in the church and ministry to use God's word as their ultimate authority when making decisions. Likewise, church leadership requires a leader who possesses the mindset of Christ and ministers to others wholeheartedly, showing compassion regardless of race, religion, gender, economic status, or geographical barriers. In order for the church to be more effective in fulfilling the commands in God's word, its leaders should have a spirit that is sensitive and content. They should demonstrate love towards one another that is kind, selfless, patient, humble, and does not harbor ill thoughts. Church leadership should strive to please God in all aspects by making sound decisions and challenging others' choices within the biblical framework.
