1 Assessing and Analyzing My Personality with the Indigo/TriMetrix DNA Assessment Olaoluwa Opaola (2206218) University Canada West HRMT 622: Talent Management Dr. Diljot Kaur Soin October 22, 2023
2 Introduction The Trimetrix assessment is an effective tool that seeks to provide answers to who a person is, and why they act the way they do. By providing insights into personality traits and behavioral patterns, this tool is a valuable asset that helps to understand oneself in the journey of personal and professional development. In this report, we will explore the results of my trimetrix assessment, and dive into the specific traits, strengths, and weaknesses that have been identified to create a concrete plan to address them. All aspects of the result will be reviewed in relation to my current state, aspirational goals, and my work progress or career path.
3 Part One The Trimetrix assessment combines multiple cutting-edge personality assessment sciences to analyze the different dimensions of a person’s personality (Top Hat Monocle, 2023). According to my results, my top DISC factors are Influencing (I - 63) and Compliance (C- 61) the lowest two are Dominance (D - 42) and Steadiness (S - 42). Elizabeth Taylor (2022) describes the DiSC assessment as a “tool that measures personality traits to help understand behavior in the workplace”. The combination of my DISC factors indicates that I am skilled in building relationships, influencing others, collaborating, being adaptable, being detail-oriented and methodical while focusing on quality and accuracy in my tasks. However, some behaviours within my DISC personality traits are polar opposites of each other. For example, an individual with a high C would thrive in structured activities or classes with a detailed syllabus, and an individual with a low S would not thrive in a highly structured environment with little room for flexibility (TTI Success Insights, 2023 p. 8). This is a paradox, and an inaccurate depiction of my behavior as I tend to thrive better with structure and objectivity. My top three skills are resilience, goal orientation, and understanding others. These traits have been exhibited over time in my work ethic and made me a valuable addition to every team I was a part of. While working at a SaaS (Software as a Service) company as the Marketing Manager, I was able to understand the goals of the company for every new product or service and ensure that my team met every target assigned to us. Additionally, my primary drivers are Objective, Commanding, Resourceful, and Receptive (TTI Success Insights, 2023 p. 2). Before making any decision, I always ask myself ‘Why?’ Because everyone should have a personal interest or reason for any action rather than go with the bandwagon effect. I learnt during my bachelors degree in Economics that the best economic benefit for all is achieved when
4 individuals engage in behaviours that result in positive self-interest (Kenton, 2023). In every company I have worked for, I strive to gain recognition, knowledge, and expertise for my hard work, not just for monetary gain. I am also very creative and tend to introduce new, smarter ways of doing things while maintaining control of my team to ensure the job gets done. Although I do not completely agree with the trimetrix assessment, awareness of these results has shed some more light on some strengths and weaknesses. Being too verbal in expressing criticism is one highlighted weakness that stood out to me. As a manager at Suburban Fiber Company, I ensured that my team members got detailed feedback on their work from me. After some time, I realized that some of the more sensitive team members found my criticisms too detailed and a bit harsh. Based on this, I had to consciously work on it by using more objective methods of appraisal based on Key Performance Indicators rather than subjective criticism. After reviewing my assessment results, I would say that my biggest strength is that I set high expectations for myself and have a process for achieving them (TTI Success Insights, 2023 p. 2). This trait is extremely beneficial and it reflects having a strong sense of discipline and self-motivation. When harnessed properly, this trait would result in continuous growth and achievements.
