Running Head: Sleep Tight Inn 3 In order for Sleep Tight Inn to recruit the best employees, Mr. Valdez needs to administer the proper abilities test to correct position. Mr. Valdez will need to complete the selection process for guest service representative, front/back office supervisor, or housekeeping services. The front/back office supervisor is responsible for delivering the best customer service. They are usually the first person to interact with the guest or take customer calls. They will need to be able to diffuse conflicts and overcome customer objections. For this position, Mr. Valdez will need to utilize the clerical abilities test. These test measure “speed and accuracy in processing verbal and numerical data” (Gatewood, 2016, p. 523). Guest services representative is a clerical position, as well. Their essential duties incorporate helping front office administrations to visitors, preparing visitor payments, and offering information on different issues. The Sleep Tight Inn will also benefit from using the clerical abilities test. The housekeeping services position is responsible for supervising “cleaning on the allotted floors and areas- including guestrooms, corridors, staircases, floor pantries of the allotted floors, inspection of cleaning in rooms, and coordination of the work in floors, supervise handling of soiled linen to laundry and requisitioning of fresh ones from housekeeping” (Sheikh, 2016). Since most of the activities of this position are labor intensive, a physical abilities test will be better suited for selection.
