Climates and their changes throughout time cause the mountain glaciers around the globe to significantly alter. Glaciers can have a crucial effect on the environment around it. Mountain glaciers have so many benefits and beautiful aspects, but the hazards that they can cause through different climate changes can be overlooked. “Furthermore, glaciers can constitute hazards, including glacier outburst floods; changes in the magnitude and timing of runoff in the mountains and adjacent regions; and, through worldwide loss of glacier ice, a global rise in sea level” (Owen et al., 2009). My worldview concerning this research topic should not be affected whether having a creation worldview or a naturalistic worldview. The research would determine the effect that climate change has on the mountain glaciers aro9und the world and how those changes would influence the environment around them. I do not think that mountain glaciers or the changes around them would give me a different perspective regardless of the worldview that I hold. My worldview did not necessarily influence my topic selection because I chose something that I would want to learn about more and I enjoy the beautiful creations that mountains are. While researching however, my worldview would just help me consider the proper and reliable sources that I should be using to collect the data need for this project. This research topic would fall under the geographic field of both physical geography as well as human geography. The changes of the mountain glaciers and the changes that it causes surrounding it would be physical geography. The effects of those changes and how that influences the overall environment is part of human geography because it can change the relationships of humans and the environment. “A s long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease” (Genesis 8:22 NIV). This project is a worthy project because it is a subject that is very significant today and has been researched for a while. The climate changes that affect the mountain glaciers gets talked about daily. Another research project of the changes in climates would never hurt, but I think it is important to look at the hazards and changes in both the environment and people aspect as well. “In addition, variations in glacier size are important for water resource management (including water supply and hydro-electric power production), natural hazard assessments, and with respect to community planning for tourism and recreation” ( Nesje et al., 2008).
