Hypothesis If the amount of sugar in a soda drink is proportional to its density, then this means the relationship between the two is linear. Because of this, one can determine the amount of sugar in a soda drink by determining its density and by using a calibration curve, applying density and sugar-mass as the axes. Can be poured down drain, and thrown in an appropriated labeled trashcan. Precautions and protection: Water is a non- hazardous chemical, and therefore does not irritate the eyes or skin. Despite this, goggles and proper attire still need to be worn at all times. Chemical Name: Sucrose Molecular Formula: C12 H22 O11 Molecular Mass: 342.3 g/mol Concentration amount used: 34.23g Hazards: May cause digestive tract issues if ingested, as well as eye, skin, and respiratory tract irritation. Disposal and Spill Cleanup: If spilled, ensure proper protective gear such as eyewear and gloves. Absorb with appropriate material that is absorbent and dispose of in proper container. Precautions and protection: Use ventilation to avoid inhaling high concentrations, wear appropriate attire such as gloves to avoid skin contact. Safety Discussion: Sucrose and Water are not harmful when they react with one another. However, avoid inhalation and ingestion, and wear proper attire, such as goggles, gloves, and appropriate clothes.
